For a novel to be classic it has to have a universal theme, a theme that teaches a good lesson and everyone understands. The characters and situations have to be realistic so that people can relate to the story. There are usually suprising plot twist that makes the reader keep wanting to read to find out what will happen next. The novel should have a variety of literary techniques and should keep the reader thinking throughout the whole book. After reading the novel, the lesson should stick in the readers head. A classic novel has to be timeless, meaning it will never age, so you can read that same classic novel over and over and never get tired of it.
I think my novel of Forrest Gump is a classic novel because throughout the story there have been many real life situations that Forrest has been in and had to make decisions. I have also seemed to think that Forrest is a real person because of his personality and they way he talks in the story.
