Forrest Gump is about a boy with a IQ of about 70 and is considered an idiot. Forrest is his name. Forrest does so many things in life from being an All-State football player in high-school, recieving a scholarship to play running back for Alabama's football team. Forrest meets his true love in first grade, Jenny Curran. Jenny was the only one that would talk or walk with Forrest. The two go through ups and downs in their relationship but settle down married, and their little boy, Forrest Gump Jr. Forrest goes into the army and is sent to war in Vietnam, he earns the medal of honor. Forrest becomes World-class ping-pong and chess players, a wrestler, and even opens a shrimping business in memory of his bestfriend Bubba.
The role of the main character, Forrest Gump, was played by Tom Hanks. Tom was also in Castaway another one of Robert Zemeckis' films. There were many similarites but probably more differences. In the film, Forrest didn't become a wrestler, or chess player and Forrest wears braces on his legs as a child because of a crooked spine. I think Tom Hanks played the role of Forrest Gump very well. The personality that i imagined was pin point. The only thing i found bad for the casting of Tom Hanks is that in the novel Forrest is 6'6" 242lbs. but Tom is just an average guy probably about 6-foot 200lbs.

Wow! This guy seems pretty incredible. From only having an IQ of 70, he seems really accomplished. I can't believe he was a football player, and veteran, and a great ping pong player! How was he able to do all these things? It seems almost impossible, considering a lot of higher IQ people can't even do that. Well, that's all I have to say. BYEEE!

The novel I read, The Wizard of Oz was the same way there were more differences than similarities. The film completely changed everything but the major scenes. But I have seen the movie Forest Gump and I like it. The concept of the novel and book seems pretty cool.

Forrest seems like a very talented person who doesn't care what anyone thinks of him and his stupidity. If I had an I.Q. of only 70, and was always being told I was stupid, I would never have the self confidence to do all of the accomplishments that Forrest did throughout his life. Forrest Gump is a very inspiring character and I would love to be like him.
